HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

HAVE A FUN BUT SAFE NIGHT!

& PLEASE DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!

360 and the 3rd year anniversary of our Family

In two days, Ulu and I will have been together for three years. In celebration, we took the kids to 360 for our 3rd anniversary as a family. I practically grew up in the old Naru Building at the old Taipei Restaurant, which is now 360, so I was excited to go and revisit my childhood. They have done a really great job on the remodeling. It was beautiful inside! Brought back a lot of fond memories. My uncle Singeru use to sing in what is now, the happy hour area. My auntie Bobbie was a waitress there. They use to serve the best roast chicken and fried pork and we would always wash that down with endless Shirley Temples. Those were the days! The menu at the new 360 is pretty good. They had a lot of my favorite appetizers and they had steak which is my family's favorite!

We ordered bacon wrapped scallops, fried cheese sticks, sashimi and beef kelaquin for chasers..the fried cheese sticks were so good we had to order more. I loved the bacon wrapped scallops!

Everyone ordered the Saipan Sirloin Angus steak for their main course. It was probably the best steak I have had on Saipan. It was very tasty and melted in your mouth..

The kids loved the steak too! For dessert we had chocolate ice cream and cheesecake. The cheesecake was delicious!

The view was awesome. It was interesting to see the changes around the island since the last time I was up there..Definitely seemed to be a lot more Garment factory buildings and I couldn't really see Susupe Lake anymore, its so grown over.

We took a ton of photos. I guess ulu and savali didn't get the memo to make a face in this shot..ha ha

We got there at a good time- 5pm..we got to see the whole island in the daylight, watch the sunset (although it was pretty cloudy) and then see the night lights just before we left.

We had a great time! Great food, great service, reasonable prices and more great memories for me, ulu and our kids. 360 is my new favorite restaurant and I look forward to going back there again soon to try the burgers and the pizza!

SHAME ON YOU DCCA!

Last night I passed by Aquarius Beach Towers beach on my way to Blockbuster video and DCCA along with the Manamko's were having a party back there on the beach. I thought "how cool" ...This morning I returned to Aquarius beach to take my kids swimming and to try out their new underwater cameras and this is what I found....

You can actually see some Russian tourists walking on the beach in the back ground..There were quite a few Russians on the beach when I got there and all of them seemed very disgusted with all the trash..

DCCA SHAME ON YOU!!

There was also a few Japanese tourists down there..this man saw my son picking up trash and grabbed a bag to help him. Together they picked up the entire beach which turned out to be just over 7 trash bags full of trash.

Thank you Savali for caring enough about the beach and the environment and for picking up all of DCCA's trash!

This is what the beach looked like after my son and the lone Japanese man picked up all the trash..

I'm so disappointed that DCCA and the Manamko's would leave the beach in such a discus ting condition. Shortly after the trash was picked up this group of Photographers and their model showed up at the beach to take some photos..Can you imagine what they would have thought had they seen all that trash there???? I can only imagine what the Russian tourists who were already there thought???? I was embarrassed even though it was not my trash. I wanted to run up to them and tell them our beaches don't usually look like this...As you can tell, I'm still very upset..DCCA owes the public, most especially the tourists and local people who were faced with their piles of trash on a beautiful Saturday morning, an apology! NOT COOL!

I must have been a good girl this year....

We had our family gift opening/exchange last night..and as you can see, there were plenty monkeys in the house as usual..ha ha...It was exciting watching the kids open all their presents..Vali and Miri received a lot of nice stuff..I got vali air hogs remote control helicopters . There are two and you fly them and they shoot infrared beams at each other..If you shoot your opponents helicopter 3 times it goes down..they are pretty cool. Remote control helicopters must have been the gift to give this year..Vali ended up with 4 and all three of my brothers got one (from different people) ..My house was buzzing with copters flying all over the place.

Mirika got a watch and a bunch of new earrings (she had her ears pierced for one of her gifts).

Both the kids got new Fuji digital camera's with water proof cases from my mom, so they can't wait to go to the beach. The also both got new cell phones (from their dad, not me..).

I didn't get a camera or a cell phone..he he.. but I did get three things that were on my Christmas list, a BB gun, a new fishing pole, reel and tackle box with lots of goodies, and two Harry Blalock prints (the lion fish and a turtle)..I also received a bunch of mula, crock pot, gift certificates and a beautiful turtle shell necklace from mom.
My Rod n Reel
My air pistol..too cool!

One of the gifts i received that touched me the most was for hand made cross stick pillows that our seamstress made for me. (you can see one of them in the first picture behind Ulu on the couch). That was so touching as she put a lot of work into cross stitching the puppies on each pillow and I never expected any gift from her...very cool!

Today we are making a traditional Samoan umu complete with palasami (taro leaves with coconut milk), Roast pig, Pilikaki (Mackerel with coconut milk), breadfruit, banana and whole chickens.. everything is in the umu and cooking so I snuck away to take a break :)

Mom's making a huge steamboat roast and dessert..

Im getting really hungry :)

Hope everyone's having an awesome Christmas Day!

Ok. gotta go..back to cooking..more pictures to come later..

Im Starting to get really excited...

Last week I was so busy I was tired and exhausted and just not feeling the Christmas spirit...This weekend I've gotten into the Christmas groove and now I'm actually excited! This year is the first time that our family Christmas Party will be at my house and I will be hosting it. Since I was a baby, my mom always cooked the Christmas meal and everyone would go to her house. When her house started to get too small for our ever growing family, we started having our parties at the hotel (Aquarius Beach Towers)..This year I am hosting the party and I'm excited. The kids and I had decorated the house a couple weeks ago and I have been shopping shopping shopping...I think I'm pretty much set..We are going to do the traditional Samoan Umu so the food should be delicious! I hope everyone else is all set and ready to go..if not, you have one day left....hurry up!

Being that we are from Angaur (the monkey island) I thought it only fitting that we have him great everyone at the door..he he

Santa, Frosty and Rudolph making their way to the roof outside

The stocking are hung and Santa is ready to go
My mother made this nativity set by hand in 1973. She would make a manger for it and put it up every year while we still lived at home. After we all grew up and moved out, it kinda got boxed away for awhile. This year my mom passed it down to me. I was so touched and excited that she gave it to me to display. I remember this nativity set was my favorite Christmas decoration growing up. I loved and still do love, this set! What makes it even more special is the fact that my mom made each piece out of porcelain and hand painted each one. It's amazing that it has lasted through all these years with every piece still in perfect condition. Vali and I made the manger this year...Its not nearly as nice as the ones my mom made, but after a few years of practice we should get it down pretty well.
