Whaaa!

My digital camera has taken its last shot...After taking a bunch of gorgeous morning mountain pictures in Papago yesterday, I proceeded to do the electric slide down the mountain and not by choice. Unfortunately, when my dance move came to an end, my camera bore the brunt of the impact and I jammed the lens in. So now I have to revise my Christmas wish list and #1 would be a new digital camera (which I will probably buy for myself..he he)...These are my top picks..If you know or have experience with a better camera, please hit me up and let me know...Appreciate any input or suggestions on which would be the best digital camera to purchase...

1st choice Canon EOS 400D / Rebel XTi Digital Camera with 18-55mm Lens

2nd choice Canon PowerShot SD1000 / Digital IXUS 70 Digital Camera

3rd choice Canon PowerShot SX100 IS

Tam: Cannot advise on camera types but just want you to know I ordered some for my grands from Circuit City online, which did not use to ship here but now does. They are now having CyberMonday sales. They have best prices I have found online. I ordered 11/8, they shipped on 11/9 and have been sitting in Richmond, CA since 11/16!!! Love. djc

Sorry Tami. That really stinks. I like your pictures too.

It really depends on what you want to do. If you love photography and want more than the point-and-shoot options, then I would go with the Canon XTi. I have a 30D and I love Canon lenses.

And if you do buy the XTi, I would also suggest upgrading from the 18-55. It's a decent beginner lens, but the shots come out soft. I started out with the 17-85 and eventually encountered the same problem. Another bonus for the XTi is that it's a reasonably affordable camera body and bodies update more frequently than lenses.

Join flickr. You can click through other people's cameras and see what they've done with them. You might find that you prefer the results of a Nikon D40x (another great, affordable beginner camera) or some other canon version.

Did you get any shots of the 'slide' or do I need to use my imagination? I lol when I read your account, my imagination running wild.

Djc & Mona- Thanks for the info. I will definitely check it out..

Boni-Thanks, I like yours too..pictures always make the blogs more fun to read!

Glen- he he..At the time I didn't think it was funny, and this huge bruise on my ass didn't find it funny either, but after the fact I kinda wish I did have some pictures of the fall because it was pretty funny! But unfortunately the camera was off :(

BIG BRUISE,EH?! Look at the positive side of it...at least it got you where there's padding and is covered from public eyes...could've been on your pretty face, in which case you'd have to explain...and explain, and explain... :-)

Hi Tami,
I just bought the Canon EOS Rebel 400D XTi, and an assortment of lenses for it. I did extensive research and shopping before making my purchase and can probably help you out with a few pointers.

Also I'd be happy to bring my camera by and let you play with it to see if it's really what you're after. Just let me know.
