POW-AGHHH!

Yesterday evening in the middle of frying some ground beef for a taco dinner, the power went off...AGH! Unannounced, no warning and I'm stuck with a pan full of half cooked ground beef..yuk! It remained off for over 2, yes 2 hours!!!!

Today in the Guam PDN, the headlines read "DPW stripped of control". The story goes on to say, "The island's dysfunctional and mismanaged solid waste system is "beyond correction by conventional methods," according to a federal judge, who yesterday took solid waste operations away from the local government and placed it under the authority of a court-appointed receiver out of Virginia."

It seems to me that CUC is dysfunctional, mismanaged and beyond correction by conventional methods (or whatever method they currently are using).... Can the CNMI government be stripped of their authority over CUC and the court appoint a receiver?? Is this possible?? Would it help?? It seems at this point anything is better than whats going on now.

I'm adding 2lbs of wasted ground beef right under my 30" color television set (which blew out during a sudden outage a couple months ago) on my list of "Things CUC will never compensate me for destroying".

AGH!

I don't understand that at all. Why aren't they liable? If you pay for any other service, housepainting for example, and in the process of providing that service you incur damages, they are liable.

I had the same thing happen with 4 chicken breasts in a pan half cooked, power was out for 4 hours that time. Grrrrr...

Let's not even talk about interrupted sleep and children! It's hard for them to stay asleep when the aircon or fan suddenly stops from 9-11:15 PM on a school night. That was Monday night from Tanapag on North. I bet the teachers at Tanapag and GTC had a hard time getting their students attention and engaging them in meaningful learning. I really think the rolling blackouts should be completed by 8PM for this reason.

CUC held liable for electronic devices destroyed by poor quality power? They're not even liable for explaining your monthly billing.

CUC power issues abound, but they're also unable to deliver quality water services. They have made Saipan third world, but the guv'mint is just as liable- how much water is lost to evaporation everyday at water parks in san Antonio, Susupe or Tanapag? Why are common citizens denied access to quality water while 'Qualifying Certificate' holding, foreign owned businesses are allowed to consume huge amounts of power to pump large amounts of water into the atmosphere? Also, how much power/water does it take to maintain a golf course? How much is required to provide a child acceptable quality of life?
