HOLY COW!

I sure hope no one out there in blogger land gets sick without health insurance, the temporary rate increase at CHC is now permanent. And it's a HUGE increase...ICU used to be $500 a day, its now $954. OR services used to be $50 every 15 minutes, it's now $1,467 every 15 minutes. YIKES! My last surgery took 2 hours, that means it would cost, at the new rate, $11,736.00 and that rate is excluding doctor's fee and anesthesia. A semi-private room- used to be $250 a day now it's $475 (adult) $672 (child). Oh, and all drugs were increased to 201.56%.

From what I understand delivery of a baby use to run $3-4K now runs $7-8K and in the case of a c-section you’re talking $10K and up. WOW!

and the good news..*drum roll please*

If you do have health insurance, you can rest assured upon renewal your rates are going to go up...wayyyyy up!

I didn't have a c-section, but my entire delivery and hospital stay came out to a little over $16K. Luckily, I have insurance.

Good Luck if you currently have an 80/20 plan too. I just saw a billing for removal of a cyst on someone's neck, a procedure that use to run about $2K (20% client share would be $400), the bill at the current rate $15K (20% client share $3,000.00)....

The results will only be bigger I.O.U.'s to write off...
A larger deficit from non-payers.

Wow, the Pmpkn cost under two grand for the entire deal from start to his six month vacinations, (except for our entrance fee at the Botanical Gardens, and they did throw in a tasty lunch) including a couple of ultrsounds. That was in 2006 dollars.

That is part of the result of the way things are managed here. Instead of raising fees reasonable amounts when necessary. They hold off for years and years.. usually to coddle the public for the purpose of politics, and then, when they are about to fall apart, raise the prices an outrageous amount. CUC as another example.

Wow. Good thing (or not) that the Missus no longer wants anymore children. <:(
