I've noticed lately when I watch movies with the subtitles on, that there are
a lot of words in the subtitles that the characters in the movie don't actually say...
why? What happened to these words and where did they come from? Does anyone
else notice this?
PS: I'm renting from Blockbuster so I know it cant be because the dvd is pirated or a knock off :)

Usually they get the script, and you know how actors like to ad-lib. You should check and see if it's only with big ticket names who get paid so much they can use their artistic license.
